Everyone gets a ton emails everyday that they may or may not look at. Junk emails fill up your inbox and make it difficult to find your important mail. Why look at emails that you are not interested in or that do not pertain to you? Well they could turn out to be a very cool and inform you of an interesting event! Yesterday, everyone was sent an email about a “Refugee Dinner” in the dining hall. If you deleted this email or did not read it, do not worry. I will tell you all about it!
Tomorrow evening the dining hall team, along with the Student Group for Human Rights Class, will host a special dinner in Hodson. In order to demonstrate the some of the hardships refugees face, they will host a refugee dinner. As you enter the dining hall, students from the Student Group for Human Rights Class will hand out cards, which are similar to food ration cards that are given to refugees. The cards represent the food given to refugees in highly developed countries, developed countries, and developing countries. Once you get your card it will direct you to a designated area, which represents the food refugees are allowed to have. This is a good demonstration of the inadequate and insufficient food available to refugees in many different countries. The Student Group for Human Rights Class hopes to gain any feedback and encourages you to participate in the event. After you participate, go back for seconds or eat from any section in the dining hall!
This is a very cool opportunity, which allows you to become aware of refugee situations in other countries. Take time to participate and you may just learn something new!
