There are many fun and affordable things to do here is Chestertown. Washington College is located in a fun community that enjoys interacting with students. For many students who are new to the Chestertown you may not know what the community has to offer. Eventually you will learn all the “ins and outs” of how the town functions. Never have to worry about being board on the weekends because Chestertown has many things to do. One of the most common things is the Chestertown Farmer’s Market, which is every Saturday (not during the winter) from 8am to 12pm in Fountain Park . At the farmers market there are local vendors selling a variety of things. From fresh produce to hand made pottery, the market has it all. It is a great Saturday morning activity to do with your friends. Not to mention most of the locals bring their dogs, which are usually very friendly. First Fridays are a common event held the first Friday of every month. Here many shops are open late and have special deals and is a great way to interact with the community. Another thing to do in downtown Chestertown is to go shopping at the boutiques and eating to the restaurants. Many shops, such as Gabriel’s and Twiggs and Teacups, have very unique items. These are perfect to decorate your dorm along with giving great presents. Restaurants, like the Fish Whistle and Lemmon Leaf, have delicious food and are a great way to treat one’s self after eating at the dining hall for a few weeks. Go to Play it Again Sam or Evergrain to enjoy coffee and pastries while you study for class. You can even head to the Chester 5 to see a movie with your roommates. With so much to do make sure you keep and eye out for upcoming events located in town. Down Rigging Weekend will be full of events and so will the towns famous Harry Potter Festival. One’s college career can go by fast, so make sure to take advantage of all the town has to offer. Don’t be afraid to go out and explore the beautiful toen many students call home.
