The semester is underway and hopefully you now have a good feel of your schedule. Now that you know your free times throughout the day, it is a great time to start going to the gym if you do not already go. Getting exercise is important and beneficial for both your physical and mental health. Luckily, there are lots of ways to fit exercise into your busy schedule.
For someone who has not been to Washington College’s gym, it can seem daunting. It may seem like there are so many athletes and other athletic people in there all the time! However, there are some key times to go to the gym when you can strut around like you practically own the place. Athletes typically do their lifts from 6-8 am. This is usually one of the most crowded and intimidating times of the day. No one wants to feel like the whole gym is judging you. But if you head to your workout around 8:30AM or 9AM it will be nearly empty.
Other busy times are around lunch and dinner because those times are when everyone is out of class. If you are free when the majority of people are in class, you will have a wide-open gym. Working out later in the night is another option. The gym is open until 10PM so you have plenty of time after dinner and club meetings to get some exercise.
If the gym makes you uncomfortable altogether, there are plenty of other ways to stay fit. You could start attending fitness classes or yoga. All classes are free to students and there are plenty of available times throughout the day. You could also take your workout outdoors and go for a run. However and whenever you choose to exercise, enjoy the benefits of staying healthy and being happy.
