This week one of WAC’s many clubs hosted a fun and cultural event. The German club taught the students a bit about Germany by putting on Oktoberfest! This festival is very important to German culture. People from all over the world travel to Munich to celebrate this amazing beer festival and this year, 5.9 million people came to celebrate and consumed 7.7million liters of beer! Talk about a party! To keep WAC in the loop, the German Club did a very good job of bringing the party to campus. To start off Oktoberfest the German Club hosted a trivia game night in the Egg. Questions ranged from the history of Oktoberfest to common German phrases. Three teams competed head-to-head to claim the title of champion and with a very close game one team came out victorious! Another activity for Oktoberfest was some German cuisine at the dining hall. Students enjoyed their favorite German dishes while eating with friends in the dining hall. Sadly, there was no beer on tap by the soda dispensers. To wrap up Oktoberfest the German Club hosted a favorite German pastime. Soccer! Interested students got together and played a friendly game on the practice fields. But like all friendly games there can still only be one champion! The German Club provided fun prizes to the winners of both the trivia night and the soccer game. This Oktoberfest was a great success and everyone got a full dose of German culture. Even if you could not make it to Munich for Oktoberfest, the German Club’s Oktoberfest was more than satisfactory!
