Athletics’ Weekend Preview

This weekend brings a lot of good action for all sports, with some starting their conference slate. Here is what to watch for.

Men’s Soccer:

It has definitely been rough for Head Coach Roy Dunshee’s squad. The team opened the season with a victory versus Neumann, but have dropped their last four games, now sitting at 1-4. Luckily for the Shoremen, they have an opportunity, at home, to start their conference play on a high note. The team plays Dickinson at 4 p.m. at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium on Saturday.

Look for WC to come back strong after four straight losses. The team has a sense of urgency and does not want to drop a fifth game in a row, especially their first conference game.

Women’s Soccer:

With their best start in 16 years going 3-1-1, the Shorewomen have opened up some eyes this season. They will play #22 Johns Hopkins on Saturday at 7 p.m. following the Shoremen soccer match. It will be interesting to see how WC fairs in versing their first CC opponent after looking great in their non-conference part of the season.

Volleyball:

Volleyball sits at 5-2, they open their Centennial Conference play with an away match versus Bryn Mawr on Saturday at 1 p.m. You can watch it here. It should be a good match for WC, and I expect them to go on the road and start their conference play with a W.

Field Hockey:

WC is looking for their first win, and they have a chance to do so on Friday, Sept. 16 with an away conference match at Johns Hopkins. The game starts at 7 p.m. and you can watch it right here. The team will have one day off on Saturday, and then play Sunday at noon with another away match which comes against Washington and Lee.
