River Fest, Crab Feast, Cornhole, and More!

George is ready for Fall Family Weekend!

Thank goodness it is Friday! After you finish your classes today you can officially start your weekend, which is going to be jam-packed with events. Fall Family Weekend is always a great time even if your family doesn’t come to visit. The list of events will keep every one very busy and entertained. So you do not miss out on any of the fun here is a list of events to look forward to!

Start the night off right with a movie in the Goose Nest hosted by SEB. “Finding Dory” will be playing at 8pm so bring your friends to enjoy the show. There will be free popcorn, candy, and drinks!

River Fest starts at 11am on Saturday! There will be a number of events at Wilmer Park all day long.

  • Kayak and canoe sprints start at 11:15 and offer crazy trophies for the winners. There are different age groups and heats so sign up early here if you want to show your stuff!
  • Historical Kayak tours are 90 minutes long and look at the changed Chester River shoreline.
  • Cardboard Boat Race starts at 3pm and is a great event. Watch teams try to make their way across the river in a cardboard boat that they have constructed themselves. For more information go here!

Phi Delta Theta’s annual Crab Feast starts at 4pm at the Turslow Boat House. Bring your family to enjoy all you can eat crabs, burgers, hotdogs, and drinks. The proceeds from this event be donated to the ALS association which researches cures for Lou Gehrig’s disease. So come hang out with the Phi Delts for some great food and a great time.

Sunday at 1:30pm join the sisters of Alpha Chi Omega for an afternoon full of Cornhole and fun! Prizes will be given to the winners! All proceeds will be donated to the Mid-Shore Council on Family Violence. Come enjoy the fall weather and some great food while your “Cornhole for a Cause!”
