It’s that time of the year again where the drama department is holding Drama Draft! For those who don’t know, Drama Draft is an opportunity for anyone of any major to come out and audition for a production put on by a senior. This spring, the shows are Last September, Aladdin del Arte, and The Arsonists. These shows are all put on by seniors as part of their senior thesis so each production will be super special in its own way! The shows range from a musical, to comedy, to a two person show. The last day to audition is Saturday. If you are interested in auditioning, head over to Gibson and up to the second floor to find the audition sheet with the various time slots.
Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone! Plays are super fun and even though auditions may seem scary, they really aren’t. I went out on Thursday evening to audition and of course I was nervous, but the minute I walked into Tawes Theatre all the directors made the process so much fun. They were all so welcoming and kind, which made it seem less like an audition and more of an opportunity to hang out and meet new people. Plus, the best thing is that you don’t have to be a theatre major to try out. Anyone can major regardless if you’re a math or science major. You get to learn things that maybe you didn’t know about theatre through the opportunity of auditioning and being casted for a show.
If auditioning isn’t your thing that’s okay too!! You can always go out and support friends and classmates by going to these productions. Be on the lookout for the show dates because they’re going to be amazing productions!
