Happy belated Groundhog Day! For those of you who don’t celebrate it or know what it exactly is, Groundhog Day is an interesting and random holiday that always falls in February and some people get very excited about it. Held in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog, is filmed and photographed waking up and lurking out of his hole. Since he saw his shadow this year, we have another 6 weeks of cold winter. While a lot of people are hoping for warmer weather (me included), we will be enduring some long, wet, and cold six more weeks of winter according to Accuweather.com. This is some incredibly sad news for those of you who are already over winter but alas, we get to have a whole month and two more weeks of it. Yay for living in one of the weirdest and wackiest states that never knows what kind of weather it wants to bring! I mean, yay we all love Maryland!
For those of you who are wondering when spring is supposed to officially begin, it is said that spring will arrive on March 20th. Lucky for us, we will be arriving back from spring break at that point refreshed and ready to take on the rest of the semester while the seniors hang in there just a little bit longer. Who knows, maybe by March it’ll be warm sunny weather from the time we all return from break till the time we will all be going home for the summer.
